Part 1: How to Achieve the Best Shrink Wrapping Results (Optimization & Debugging)
1. Select the Correct Photoelectric Sensor Mode
- Thin products (thickness < 1cm): Select vertical photoelectric detection mode.
- Thick products: Select horizontal photoelectric detection mode.
In the following video, the product reaches the cutting position but the machine stops instead of cutting. The cause was traced to an incorrect product detection mode setting. The product is thick, but vertical detection mode was selected. The sensor failed to detect it, so no cutting action occurred.
Special Note for Multi‑Product Combination Packaging: e.g., boxes arranged in a 2×3 pattern , gaps exist between individual boxes. If the two photoelectric sensors are aligned directly opposite each other, the light beam may pass through these gaps, causing detection failure. The machine will then fail to sense the product accurately, resulting in mistimed cutting or incorrect sealing positions.
Correct Practice: Position the two sensors offset from each other (one slightly ahead of the other). This ensures that at least one sensor consistently detects the product surface, avoiding blind spots caused by gaps, so that every product is reliably sensed and the cutting action is completed correctly.
2. Precisely Set Bag Length Parameters (Front Margin & Rear Margin)
Front Margin and Rear Margin together determine the sealing line position and the fit of the bag.
- Front Margin: This parameter actually controls the offset position of the sealing line relative to the front edge of the product. A larger value moves the sealing line forward (toward the product front), making the front film section shorter; a smaller value moves the sealing line backward, making the front film section longer.
- Rear Margin: This parameter controls the length of film reserved at the rear end of the product. A larger value makes the rear film section longer; a smaller value makes the rear film section shorter.

Why Do Front Margin and Rear Margin Work in Opposite Ways?
Because the machine’s sealing and cutting cycle is fixed — the film advances a set length and the product is positioned in the middle. To change the front bag length, the machine does not “feed more film” or “feed less film”; instead, it achieves this by changing the position where the sealing knife makes contact (moving it forward or backward). Therefore, Front Margin essentially controls whether the sealing line shifts forward or backward.
3. Adjust the Side Margin
Side margin is adjusted by turning the black handle located beside the Front Conveying Assembly. This changes the relative position between the output conveyor and the side sealing knife:

- Turning the handle to the right → The output conveyor moves closer to the side sealing knife → The gap between the product and the side sealing knife decreases → The side margin decreases → The seal line becomes neat and aesthetically pleasing.
- Turning the handle to the left → The output conveyor moves away from the side sealing knife → The gap between the product and the side sealing knife increases → The side margin increases → Suitable for thick or irregularly shaped products to ensure smooth passage without jamming.
Debugging Tip: Under the premise that products can pass through smoothly without jamming, turn the handle as far right as possible to minimize the gap for the best sealing appearance. Adjust according to the actual product size to find the balance point where “passage is smooth and the seal is aesthetically pleasing.”

4. Adjust the Number of Perforation Needles Based on Product Size
- For smaller products: Reduce the number of active needles. This slows down air evacuation, allowing the shrink film to contract more fully and evenly around the product, resulting in a better finish.
- For larger products: Increase the number of active needles as needed.

Loosen the side screws to retract the needles.

5. Document Optimal Settings for Fast Product Changeovers
Once you have achieved the best packaging results for a specific product:
- Using a colored marker, physically mark the machine components at the correct height, width, and perforation needle positions for that product (refer to the video demonstration).
- Take clear photos of the control panel displaying all the optimized parameter settings.
- The next time you switch back to this product, simply restore the machine to the marked positions and input the saved parameters from your photos. This eliminates the need for time‑consuming re‑adjustment and ensures consistent quality.
